OTR Exclusive: The Hills' Whitney Port Joins Diane Von Furstenberg, Invades New York
filed in: news

Could Whitney have left the People's Revolution, the PR firm she works for on the show?

Amidst rumors that Whitney may be getting her own spin-off, a source at Diane von Furstenberg confirms to OTR that the reality "star" (we use the term "star" loosely) started working for the clothing designer yesterday.

The Hills' least dramatic lady has begun interning in the PR department at Diane von Furstenberg. Meanwhile MTV has been busy filming at the company's offices this week. Not only that, but the designer hired Whitney's friend as well... suspicious. Sounds like a set-up.

If all goes well (meaning high ratings of course), MTV may be giving Port her own show next year. Could she be bidding farewell to California and hello to the Big Apple permanently?

Watch out NYU students, MTV may be coming to town and bringing with it spoiled, whiny drama queens.

Not that you'd notice a few more.

The Hills ‘Get Cool’ Handbook, Chapter II
filed in: news
As I’ve implied before, I am drastically uncool when compared to the glamorous young men and women living in The Hills, where new fashion lines fall off trees, night clubs offer limitless champagne on the house, and brunching is an Olympic sport best executed when not actually hungry. Throughout Season 4, I’ll be chronicling the various ways one can attempt to ‘get cool’, as seen on The Hills, and I’d like to hear your feedback! Have these methods been successful for you? Frustrated you’re not getting cool fast enough? Send in your questions and comments and together we can strive for ultimate, Hills-level hipness.

According to Episode 402, some ways to improve your cool factor are to:

Carry: Helium balloons into a crowded night club. It says, “I’m ready to party, and I’m not afraid of props.” Try handing out a few to potential hookups — everyone loves presents.

Ask: Your new love interest to ditch work and jet off to Cabo… just for fun. Spontaneity is super cool, especially if you have a private jet and loose work hours.

Leave: An intense social situation claiming you “can’t deal with the drama.” Storm off without making eye contact or thanking your host, but make sure your constant sidekick is following you to the door. Maybe just text everyone later to apologize for suddenly disappearing like that — you don’t know what got into you.

Trust: No one. Definitely not someone who’s related to someone you can’t trust. Tell them what someone else, someone wise, once said: “Blood is thicker than water.” Give them a look like you know what’s up.

Hills Talk: Who Said It Best?
filed in: news
Sometimes, actions speak louder than words. Other times, it seems like everyone’s speaking a little too freely. Check out these quotes from tonight’s episode of The Hills and let us know which of these memorable one-liners had you cringing in your seat.

LC: Are you inviting Heidi and Spencer?
Steph: I don’t know…I [want] it to be a fun night and it’s like - drama follows them.
LC: I mean, I don’t know if it follows as much as they chase it.

Chiara: It’s like, Audrina vs. Lo, a battle to the death. I’ll be on your side.
Audrina: You mean, brunettes?
Chiara: The dark hairs versus the light hairs. I’ll kick her ass.

Spencer Pratt, trying not to ruin a perfectly good meal: You think I’m gonna hang out with Stephanie if she’s best friends with the girl I despise? … Hey, don’t get me fired up. I’m not going to be able to eat, I’ll get so mad.

Kelly Cutrone, reminding everyone exactly whose company it is: “It’s my company, and my answer is no to that…I’m just going to say what I want, since it’s my company.

LC: Can’t we all just get along?
Lo: We are all just getting along, that’s why we’re all going to Stephanie’s birthday!
LC: I mean, we’re not all getting along.
Lo: Well, the ones who matter are getting along.

Spencer, eying Lauren and Lo as they sip their drinks: Can you get these obnoxious chicks away?

Audrina: I try to forget about things. So, I don’t know, I’m trying to, like, work on my skills.
Lo: I’m glad we talked.

Spencer: You jump ship to the bad guys.
Stephanie: I didn’t jump ships, I feel like I was friends with everyone.
Spencer: There’s no–when there’s two ships, that’s jumping ships.

Spencer, giving his sister some global perspective: Why can’t we all just get along? It’s like trying to tell Iran and Israel to get along. It’s not gonna happen.

Spencer, explaining the power of genetics: We’re brother and sister. At the end of the day, I can’t change, I can’t make you un-my sister. Trust me, if I could in the past, I would’ve.

Kelly Cutrone, keeping it real with Whitney: I wouldn’t make any plans for, like, the next couple of months.

LC, keeping it real with Stephanie: I mean, its not a secret to you that, like, all my friends say that I shouldn’t even trust you.

+ Anything we left out? Let us know your favorite quote from tonight’s show and tell us your predictions for season 4 of The Hills!

Next Week’s Hills: Something Old, Something New
filed in: news, media
If the theme of this week’s Hills was “Can’t we all just get along?” then next week it’s all about relationships. Heidi and Spencer argue over their obligations to Stephanie, while Brody drops vague (but ominous!) hints about Steph’s overall trustworthiness. Meanwhile, Whitney meets a cute USC alum in NYC and Lauren realizes she might still be hung up on an old flame.

Think you can handle any more drama? Check out what’s coming up next week and see if you can figure out which relationships are going somewhere, and which are fading faster than Michael Jackson’s skin tone.

Hills Male Bag: One Dude’s Thoughtful Evaluation Of Doug’s Game
filed in: news, media
Last week, I asked a few regular dudes to share their honest opinion of LC’s new man, Doug Reinhart. (Yep, the show has officially extended its fan base to the all-American straight male! Or maybe these guys are just finally fessing up after years of hush-hush Monday Night “Football” gatherings at the ole frat house.)

After last night’s episode, I was still feeling a little confused as to whether Doug’s man enough for LC, so I reached out to “MBA Dave” (what we’re calling him for privacy sake), a huge Hills fan who shares his obsession with fellow business school buddies. “None of us knew each other prior to school, so I think there was some hesitation at first to be like, ‘Hey did you see what happened to so-and-so last night on The Hills?’ But over the course of time, it became a large part of our TV-watching calendar,” says MBA Dave. “We’ve all since re-entered the real world in varying professions but are still avid viewers. It’s not exactly something I talk about with the other investment banking folks at the office though.”

Thankfully, MBA Dave had some level-headed insight about Doug’s lady skills and whether he’s going in the right direction with Lauren:

“As old friends I think Doug originally was trying to play it cool and act like LC’s lack of attention wasn’t that big of a deal. That’s a smart angle and definitely intrigued her enough to continue seeing him. It was a solid play to stay behind with her at Stephanie’s B-day party, showing his support in a tough situation. In the end though, I think it must be hard for LC to date anyone. Her life has been documented on TV forever, so it would be tough to gauge anyone’s true intent.”

Is MBA Dave onto something here? Watch a clip of LC and Doug’s recent lunch date and tell us: Will he — or should he even — get the girl?

Hills’ Audrina Explains Why She’s ‘Team Brunette’ All The Way
filed in: news

Remember that icy stare Lo gave Audrina in the girls’ bathroom before Stephanie’s party? How about that snide remark she made in the car (i.e. “Well, the ones who matter are getting along”) that literally made Lauren’s jaw drop? Yes, people, when you’re having your lives taped, every awkward silence, smug grin and contemptuous eye roll is forever immortalized by the cameras. So what was going through Audrina’s mind when she watched last night’s Hills episode?

“It’s weird because when I’m actually filming with [Lo] I don’t always notice the dirty looks until I watch the episode,” Audrina writes on her website. “It’s actually kind of funny to watch on TV, and I get to see everyone else’s point of view of what’s going on.”

Of course, if it weren’t for the tension with Lo, Audrina wouldn’t have been able to sneak out before Spencer and Heidi frightened Brody and Frankie away with their giant, drugstore balloons!

Says Audrina: “Going to Stephanie’s birthday party was definitely a bit awkward for me…I knew Lauren and Lo would be glued together, but I still went and had half a cocktail, said my hellos and then quietly slipped out before the drama.”

+ Meanwhile, what did you guys think about last night’s Hills?

Is Lo coming off any worse than you would if someone shoved a camera in your face every time you were drunk/PMSing/overtired? Or does Audrina have the production crew to thank for (finally) getting to see what Lo’s like behind closed doors?

‘The After Glow’: R.I.P. Jessica, Congrats Whitney! So Sorry, Steph…
filed in: news, media
For every major career success, there’s another hardworking employee who just got the shaft. Unfortunately, Jessica was forced to fall on her sword before Whitney could step up to the plate at People’s Revolution. Kelly Cutrone (aka “Scary Lady in Charge”) will most likely never look back, but we who create/watch/revere The Hills: Live After Show are a tad bit heartbroken and would like to take a moment and share this tender montage of our lost (but not forgotten!) friend…

Another Hills girl who wasn’t all smiles last night? Steph Pratt, who swears on her life she had no idea Speidi would show up to her B-day party. Watch this After Show clip to hear what Stephanie told Jessi and Dan about her delicate history with Brody and Spencer.

Preview Heidi and Spencer's Video Game!
filed in: news, media

Who would win in a match — Heidi Montag or Spencer Pratt?

Fans can now find out with Electronic Arts' "Facebreaker," an Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 boxing game that pits a virtual Montag against Pratt.

In the game (made for laughs), "limbs contort, faces stretch and opponents go flying across the ring," according to MTV News, which offers an exclusive peek (above).

The "Facebreaker" game (available September 3) also has a feature that allows any non-famous person to face off against a celebrity.

The games support camera attachments for the Xbox 360 and PS3 that can be used to capture a face and put it on an in-game boxer, MTV News reports.

Yes, that means you can beat up Spencer!

In February, Pratt told Usmagazine.com, "Let's just say that everyone will be addicted.”

They were not exactly in the best mood as they arrived late to the interview because Spencer was not feeling well today and battling an upset stomach. HILLS RECAP: Lauren Has Another Run-In With Heidi and Spencer
filed in: news

The Lauren-Spencer feud keeps on keepin' on.

On last night's episode, Stephanie Pratt celebrates her 22nd birthday at Boulevard 3 in Los Angeles.

She invites Lauren – and swears Heidi and Spencer won't be there. "I just want to have a fun night," Stephanie says. "It's just like drama follows them."

Replies Lauren, "I don't know if they follow it, so much as they chase it."

Lauren brings Lo (yep, things are still awkward between her and Audrina), as well as new beau Doug Reinhart.

Surprise! Moments later, Spencer and Heidi arrive with balloons.

Brody Jenner splits ("This is nothing but drama," he says) and soon Lauren and her crew flee.

"I am so surprised you showed up!" Stephanie tells Spencer.

Snipes Spencer: "I think we surprised someone else even more!"

Spencer later pops by his sister's pad and gives her the usual ultimatum: Stop being friends with Lauren or lose me as a brother.

He says he and Lauren will never be friends.

"It's like trying to tell Iran and Israel to get along," he cracks. "As long as you're going around with that posse, you have nothing to do with my
life."

Meanwhile, Spencer and Heidi's party appearance has left Lauren questioning her trust in Stephanie. (The show hints at upcoming drama: Stephanie seems too excited about Lauren bringing beau Doug to her party. A trailer implies that Stephanie later goes on a date with Doug behind Lauren's back.)

Some good news on last night's show: Whitney gets a promotion!

After her co-worker is fired, Whitney lands her gig at People's Revolution.

The downside: She must take on more responsibility in the NYC office and live a bi-costal lifestyle.

Says her boss Kelly Cutrone, "I wouldn't make any plans for the next couple of months."

The Hills Recap: Drama Follows Them
filed in: news
Or, as Lauren Conrad says of Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, in a line not at all fed to her by executive producer Adam DiVello, "I don't know if it follows them as much as they chase it." So profound, LC. So profound.

On the second episode of The Hills' 4th season, Stephanie Pratt invites Lauren Conrad to her birthday party. That sounds well and good, until we learn Spencer and Heidi are gonna roll, too. Great ready for hectic drama!

Whitney Port saw this one coming big time. At work, she shows some concern when Lauren tells her that she’s going to Stephanie Pratt’s party, feeling that a run in with Heidi and Spencer is inevitable - and far from pretty.

On the career front, Whitney gets invited out to dinner with Kelly Cutrone and other People's Revolution peeps. She seems to be moving up in the company and getting more responsibility, which excites her but also nervous.

At Epic Records, Audrina Patridge vents to Chiara about Lo - who must have gone to a stylist right before they went out, because she looks flat-out ridic to us. Anyway, Audrina and Lo vow to try to make nice at the party.

At first, Spencer Pratt didn't even want to show his ugly mug at Stephanie's b-day party. Unfortunately for us, Heidi talks into into it, telling him not to let LC ruin his relationship with a family member. Spencer agrees, but only reluctantly.

Lauren and Lo arrived at Steph's party first, with Audrina Patridge, Frankie Delgado, Brody Jenner and Doug Reinhardt showing up a little later.

Follow the jump to continue our Hills recap, it's just begun ...

When Spencer and Heidi Montag arrive, Brody immediately decides to flee, to avoid the drama that will invariably follow, and takes Frankie with him.

Smart move. Spencer sees LC and Lo and one second after seeing Steph, asks her to "please get these obnoxious chicks away from me." Hilarious.

Lauren Conrad then leaves with, Lo, Doug and Audrina.

The next day, the slimy Spencer goes to see Stephanie Pratt to talk about everything that happened last night. He tells her that as long as she is hanging out with LC and her friends, he wants nothing to do with her.

After playing the family card approximately 30 times, Spencer Pratt even said if he could find a way to not make her his sister, he would. D!ck.

Meanwhile, at People's Revolution, Kelly Cutrone offers Whitney Port a new position as co-worker Jessica gets the axe. If she takes it, Whitney would have to make the move to New York (noooo!) - but it's a huge promotion.

Stay tuned there. Finally, at school, Stephanie catches up with LC to tell her that she's sorry about Spencer. Seems like a recurring theme.

In a sort of b!tchy but upfront moment, Lauren Conrad tells Stephanie that even her friends don't trust her - for what looks like good reason.

Janeane Garofalo does her best Lauren Conrad in a staged reading of 'The Hills'
filed in: news

The event just made everything so much clearer: Lauren's a blank slate until crossed. Heidi was her victim.

In fact, Saturday's Upright Citizens Brigade staged reading of the momentous "The Hills" episode "You Know What You Did," starring Janeane Garofalo as Lauren and Rachael Harris as Heidi, was nothing short of revelatory.

Sure, it was a kick see Rob Huebel flash Spencer's trademark toothy grin and Dannah Feinglass get dazzlingly ditzy as Audrina. Harris' Heidi, complete with over-annunciated drawl, was almost uncomfortably close to the real thing.

But seeing the episode deconstructed -- literally, a reading of the show's dialogue -- exposed something more. Something new.

Without a pop music soundtrack and mood lighting, Lauren simply comes off as a leech, her neediness sucking her victims dry until they've got nothing left to give. (Garofalo needy? Strange, but she pulled it off.)

It was almost tragic to see the evenings players, clad all in black, welcomed on stage by narrator Nathan Corddry, who first recited the words to "The Hills" theme song, Natasha Bedingfield's "Unwritten." Live your life with arms wide open / Today is where your book begins / The rest is still unwritten. (Sadly, the night's revisited events happened over a year ago, long before Lauren began feasting on friends like Audrina. But I digress...)

The show began with an already miffed Lauren, all dagger eyes and playing with her hair. She confided in work friend Whitney that she thought Heidi was behind the sex-tape rumors. Whitney, played pitch-perfectly by Robin Shorr, was stupefied, asking Lauren all about her woes and responding the safest way she knew how: "Wow."

She knows better than to cross L.C.

Thankfully, we know Whitney escapes Lauren's hit list -- she's got a new show coming next year.

We relived watching Audrina, then firmly in Lauren's good graces, pass on Spencer and Heidi's super fun-sounding housewarming and saw her stick by Lauren through her sex-tape paranoia. Things change later on once Lauren decides Audrina hasn't paid her enough attention and brings in childhood pal Lo for reinforcement.

But the night's moment of truth arrived when Lauren and Heidi collide at a nightclub. Harris evoked a truly mystified Heidi as Lauren whipped out her can of whoop-ass, tearing into her without any proof that Heidi and Spencer had ignited the sex-tape rumors. Only moments before the fight, Lauren received a letter from Heidi, trying to revive their friendship.

Garofalo, of course, easily channeled Lauren's undue ferocity: "You're a sad, pathetic person!"

But who is more tragic here? Heidi, who has at least been upfront about her attention-getting efforts, or Lauren, who cries her way through friends and then bites their heads off? Maybe Stephanie can bite first?

Shorr told Show Tracker that the group may perform the episode again in October. For more information, visit the Upright Citizens Brigade website.

The Hills Recap: Drama Follows Them
filed in: news
On the second episode of The Hills' fourth season, Stephanie Pratt invites Lauren Conrad to her birthday party. She immediately decides to invite Doug, who she’s started to date regularly.

At Epic Records, Audrina Patridge vents to Chiara about her relationship with Lo. Whitney Port shows some concern when Lauren tells her that she’s going to Stephanie’s party, feeling that a run in with Heidi and Spencer may be inevitable.

Her suspicions were right since, at dinner, Heidi tries to convince Spencer to go see his sister and not let Lauren ruin their relationship. Spencer agrees, but says he'll never talk to his sis again after.

Whitney is invited out to dinner with Kelly Cutrone and other employees of People's Revolution. She seems to be moving up in the company and getting more responsibility, which excites her but also nervous.

Lauren and Lo head to Stephanie's party, with presents in tow. Soon after, Audrina, Frankie, Brody and Doug show up to celebrate.

Things get awkward, though, when Spencer and Heidi Montag arrive.

Brody immediately decides to leave, to avoid the drama, and takes Frankie with him. Minutes later, Lauren, Lo, Doug, and Audrina leave.

The next day, Spencer goes to see Stephanie to talk about what happened at the party. He tells her that as long as she is hanging out with Lauren and her friends, he wants absolutely nothing to do with her.

Spencer Pratt even went as far as to say that if he could find a way to not make her his sister anymore sometimes, he would.

At People's Revolution, Kelly offers Whitney Jessica's position after she is fired. It would mean that Whitney would have to make the move to New York, though, but she would work extremely closely with Kelly.

At school, Stephanie catches up with Lauren to tell her that she's sorry for Spencer's behavior. In a catty but honest moment, Lauren Conrad tells her that her friends don't trust her - and maybe for good reason.

Watch Heidi Montag's New "Overdosin'" Video
filed in: news, media

Heidi Montag debuted her new music video (above) for "Overdosin'" on Monday but later apologized to fans for technical difficulties.

"Dear fans," she wrote in a statement. "I apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced when trying to view or download my "Overdosin'" video. We have experienced an error and are working to correct it as soon as possible. Thanks again everyone's support. I hope you enjoy the video!"

In the video, the Hills star, 21, plays an '80s aerobics instructor as she dances around in lycra, legwarmers and a sweatband.

The pop song, released last week, "is about when you fall in love with someone," she recently told Ryan Seacrest. "[About] how I feel about Spencer and my relationship."

Don't miss Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt's cheesiest moments.

When Seacrest asked if a wedding could possibly inspire her next single, she joked, "I'm waiting for the ring to make that song."

See photos of The Hills' past hookups!

Look for more from Montag and Pratt ahead, who have volunteered to take over the MTV reality hit next season if Lauren Conrad decides to step down.

"I think that maybe Lauren is tired of [being on the show], but we're just beginning," she told Seacrest. "We're not even remotely sick of it."

Tell Us: What do you think of Heidi's video?

Heidi Montag - “Overdosin’” Music Video
filed in: news, media
Check out The Hills star Heidi Montag’s music video for her latest single “Overdosin”.

The vid was directed by Spenser Cohen and produced by Heidi, boyfriend Spencer Pratt, Anna Halberg and Spenser Cohen.

Unfortunately, it seems the audio and video aren’t synced up correctly and looks pretty terrible. The audio even dies at the 4-minute mark!

The behind-the-scenes pictures made it seem like the video would have the potential to be a lot of fun and campy! What happened?

WHAT DO YOU THINK of Heidi’s new music video “Overdosin’” — YAY or NAY?
